Feel Good Story: Newlyweds Ask Wedding Guests for School Supplies in Lieu of Gifts

When a couple gets married, their loved ones like to shower the newlyweds with gifts . . . but that wasn’t the case for one Florida couple.

Kelli is a first-grade teacher and knows first hand how unaffordable school supplies can be for some families, and how many teachers end up spending their own money to help their students.

That’s why, in lieu of wedding gifts, Kelli and her new husband Matt asked for school supplies they could donate.

The school where Kellie works didn’t necessarily need the help, so she reached out to her district to find a school with a high-poverty rate the donated school supplies could really help, and found an elementary school in Tampa.

Of the items the wedding guest donated were over 70 backpacks filled with everything from pens and notebooks to water bottles and headphones.

Hear Kelli talk about it herself . . .
