When a woman received a nasty note from an anonymous neighbor, she decided to share it on social media to encourage others to practice patience.
Randa Ragland and her family have really been experience trials and tribulations recently — she was diagnosed with health issues . . . her husband had been laid off . . . and their autistic and nonverbal 3 year old son Jaxen had been diagnosed with Stage IV neuroblastoma.
The toddler had endured seven surgeries and more than 20 hospitalizations.
Nothing could have prepared Randa for what she was about to find when she opened the mailbox at her Pinson, Alabama home.
It was an anonymous note from a neighbor, accusing Randa of letting her lawn fall into such disrepair that its appearance was “affecting the resale value” of the neighborhood homes and the Raglands needed to “do better.’
Randa told her local news outlet that, “at first, I felt a little angry . . . But so much has been going with us and our family. I just didn’t have the energy to be negative.”
With intentions to inspire her friends and family to be patient with others because we never know what struggles another is carrying, but it was Randa who received the encouragement.
The post was shared by enough people the story spread through the community, with neighbors leaning in to help the Raglands.
A team of lawn care service members showed up to take care of the Raglands grass . . . volunteers came with chainsaws to clear out tree debris . . . people came to tidy up the house . . . and others came bearing groceries.
All of these volunteers joined up in a Facebook group dedicated to helping the Ragland family on a continued bases, and most of them had never met the family in their lives.
The compassion behind these kind-hearted neighbors will be an enormous relief in many of the family’s struggles.
