Feel Good Story: Man Starts Home for Elderly Dogs Not Being Adopted

There’s a new retirement home opening soon, and it’s for four legged fur babies!

Russell Clothier has started a retirement home for elderly dogs waiting to be adopted, but may not find a home because of their age.

It’s called Shep’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary, and 10 year old Shep, a beagle basset hound mix is getting comfy cozy in his new home and looking for friends to share it with.

Russell shares, “We want it to be as homey as possible. We want it to feel like home. Most of these dogs came from a home, and also for the volunteers. It’s just comfortable. We want it to be like you’re own house hanging out with your own dogs.”

The concept started with Russell volunteering at shelters and seeing all the elderly dogs never finding a new home.

Russell says, “All dogs go to Heaven, but they deserve to have a place to call home first.”

Shep’s Place is accepting donations, and have a wishlist for their biggest needs.
