Feel Good Story: Man Lands Job Thanks to Kind Officer

Ka’Shawn Baldwin (22) was on his way to a job interview in Illinois last week when he was stopped by officer Roger Gemoules for expired license plates, but it turned out Ka’Shawn was also driving on an expired license.

Officer Gemoules is a high school resource officer, but, with school out for spring break, was on patrol duty that day.

Ka’Shawn knew his license wasn’t current, but had no idea about the plates on the car because it had been borrowed from a friend. He explained to Officer Gemoules he was on his way to an interview at a FedEx facility with no way of getting there, other than driving himself.

Routinely, how things would go is the vehicle would be towed and the driver taken to jail, but Officer Gemoules had a different plan.

Officer Gemoules followed Ka’Shawn back home where they left the car, then the kind-hearted officer drove Ka’Shawn to his interview!

Gemoules could tell Ka’Shawn really wanted this job, and he felt it was necessary to help him get to the interview.

The officer told a local news outlet, “[Ka’Shawn] was polite when I pulled him over and he seemed like a good young man, so I wanted to give him a chance.” He continues, “I knew if I gave him a bunch of tickets and towed his car, it would be tough to recover from.”

When Ka’Shawn learned he landed the job, he sought out Officer Gemoules to share the good news and thank him for his kindness again.
