Feel Good Story: Lost Backpack Leads to Found Sobriety and a Life Saved

A single act of kindness can lead to an incredible opportunity to turn someone’s life around.

In 2017, a Greenville, South Carolina family lost a backpack, which ended up being found and returned by a homeless man named Ben Williams.

Ben had been battling an intense drug addiction, and while he was at a low point in his life and pretty desperate, he still wanted to do the right thing. So, Ben rode his bike SEVEN MILES to return the lost backpack.

Not long after, Ben found himself under arrest for drugs and headed to jail, but when the family learned about it, they volunteered to be his sponsor.

The judge had Ben go through addiction counseling, which meant he’d be able to avoid jail time as long as he stayed clean.

Cut to today, two years later, and Ben just GRADUATED from the program . . . and now he’s excited about his future. Ben’s next goal, now that he’s found sobriety, is to become an addiction recover coach, so he can pay it forward and help other’s get clean, too.
