We hear a lot about school lunch debts these days, and the kind-hearted people trying to combat it for students whose families could use a little extra help.
In Vista, California, there’s a kindergartner named Kiki Hardee who decided to take action herself to help when parents of classmates fall behind on lunch payments.
Kiki (5) decided to start a series of fundraisers to bring in donations to help other students in her school. She originally have a goal to bring in $616 to eliminate the current lunch debt, but thanks to her efforts, called Kiki’s Kindness Project, she brought in enough donations to help more than just her school.
The various fundraisers Kiki initiated included a cocoa and cookie stand.
Over $7,000 were donated to Kiki’s Kindness Project, and the 5 year old with an epic heart of gold was able to help students in her entire school district.
Kiki’s efforts even inspired her peers to get involved in helping others — fifth grader Dawson spies now plants trees . . . classmate Rachel Chavez works to feed members of the homeless community . . . and more.
