A happy accident during a shopping trip spurred an idea of kindness, and a brand new tradition for one young man.
Ayden Robbins (6) of Bremen, Kentucky was at a Dollar General with his grandmother, Leah Norris, when a glitch in the computer system allowed them to purchase 15 blankets for a penny each.
The Bremen Elementary School kindergartner had the idea to donate the blankets to the Muhlenberg County Humane Society . . . which then spurred an important question from the big-hearted six year old: What are other ways he could give this season?
Something was mentioned about the idea of giving out Christmas cards, and it was an idea Ayden couldn’t wait to jump at.
Ayden wanted to give out Christmas cards to first responders in his community, and a few days later . . . his idea was ignited into action.
Signing every card he passes out, Ayden has given cards to Central City police officers and firefighters . . . Greenville police and firefighters . . . Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office . . . Muhlenberg County dispatchers, paramedics, and EMTs . . . Beechmont volunteer firefighters . . . Madisonville police department and firefighters . . . the Hopkins county sheriff’s department . . . and the Kentucky Highway Patrol Post #2.
The idea started around Thanksgiving of this year and, so far, Ayden has given out over 400 Christmas cards to first responders in Western Kentucky.
It all started with a computer glitch, and the kind-hearted 6 year old turned a conversation into actions that will be carried out as a yearly tradition.
