Feel Good Story: Kind Human Pays Off Families’ Overdue Utility Bills for Christmas

‘Tis the season of giving, and giving is being done on so many levels.

There’s a person in Florida who has just paid off the utility bills of 36 families who risked having their power shut off from overdue payments.

His name is Michael Esmond, and of why he did this intensely kind gesture for random strangers he shares, “Back in the ’80s I actually lived that. I experienced a time where I had trouble paying bills. And we actually had the gas disconnected. It happened to be one of the coldest winters in history.”

Michael spent about $4,600 to help make the holidays a little less stressful for other families in the community.

Michael continues, “The community has been good to me and I’m trying to give back to the community.”

The customers at risk of having their power turned off received a special card instead of a warning that read, “It is our honor and privilege to inform you that your past due utility bill has been paid by Gulf Breeze Pools & Spas. You can rest easier this holiday season knowing you have one less bill to pay. On behalf of Gulf Breeze Pools & Spas we here at the City of Gulf Breeze would like to wish you and your family a happy holiday season.”
