Luke Bryan really had it right with his song “Most People Are Good,” and this story totally showcases that.
David’s family has been in the farming industry for decades, but a family ancestor had sold the family farm to another family member who didn’t have the farm’s best interest at heart.
It was a situation that had the whole family upset, and David was determined to get the family farm back.
The land was up for sale again through an auction, so David and his father committed to do whatever possible to get the farm again.
Auction day arrived, and there were over 200 farmers present. David and his dad felt their chances to win the farm back dwindling down, but still decided to give it their best shot.
However, David and is dad had no idea about the surprise the other farmers were planning . . .
When the auctioneer started the auction, David and his dad placed their bid, and not a single other farmer spoke up.
All 200 farmers remained silent to that David and Dad could buy back the family’s farm.
After not getting a response from other farmers wanting to place a bid for the third time, he slammed down the gavel and declared the land back to David and his father as the winning bid.
With such an amazing show of solidarity by the other farmers towards his family, David said, “I’ve had two profoundly humbling days in my life. The first was the day my son was born. The second was that unforgettable day at the auction house.
