Feel Good Story: Hearing-Impaired Janitor Gets Birthday Surprise from Kindergarten Class

James Anthony, a janitor at Hickerson Elementary School in Tullahoma, TN since 1991, recently turned 60 years old, and got quite the birthday surprise from the school’s kindergarten class.

James in hearing impaired, but he can read lips.  The students wanted to do something special for their janitor buddy, so, the young students greeted James on his birthday by singing AND SIGNING the words to “Happy Birthday.”

The school posted the heart-warming video on their Facebook Page, and Principal Jimmy Anderson even told FOX 17 News about how much the students love James, and that he’s a truly incredible role model for them. The principal shares, “Mr. James teaches the kids sign language every now and then, teaches them good manners and how to treat other people.”
