Feel Good Story: Girl Scouts Bring Cookies to Veterans

There’s a Girl Scout troop in Colorado who recently visited the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center with their family members and troop leaders to deliver 12,000 packages of Girl Scout Cookies.

The cookies are donated by customers that made the purchases specifically for the veterans as part of the Hometown Heroes/Gift of Caring program.

Emma Bacon (13), one of the Girl Scouts says, “Our veterans serve us and they help keep our freedom and they keep us protected so we wanted to give back so they know they’re appreciated.”

A sentiment echoed by fellow Girl Scout (12) Chloe Vaughn, who shares, “They help us and like protect us so we can be free so we’re just giving back to them.”

Cookie packages are handed out to people waiting for treatments, working in the hospital and all across the campus. The rest of the cookies are then stored for the veterans to enjoy throughout the rest of the year, with other packages sent off to different VA locations throughout Colorado.

Emma goes on to share, “It made me feel really good and I know they really felt appreciative of us noticing them and giving back.”
