While most people on a flight might keep to themselves, have headphones on or earbuds in and not fully be aware of the people around them or truly how intricate the lives of other passengers might be, one Southwest flight proved an exception to the rule.
A couple from California named Dustin and Caren Moore had flown to Colorado to adopt a little 8 day old who was about to become their daughter.
During the flight back to California, a couple of Southwest flight attendants had commented to the new parents about how beautiful their baby girl was. That’s when Caren and Dustin told them about the adoption and why they were flying with such a young baby.
The flight attendants, thrilled for the new parents, jumped on the intercom to announce there was a “special guest” on the flight and mentioned the adoption.
The plane erupted with cheers from the fellow passengers . . . who then threw a makeshift BABY SHOWER!!
We’re talking Southwest crew AND passengers!
The crew passed out napkins for passengers to write down some words of advice. They received kind words of love and support, along with things like “Always tell her you love her” and “Make time for date night.”
They read a bunch of the words of advice out loud, and ended up with about 60 napkins — which they put all of them in a photo album so they can look back on the kind gesture of love and advice from the strangers who helped them celebrate the new addition to their family.
Fun fact: the two flight attendants who came up with the idea are actually married and had something similar happen during their honeymoon flight as new husband and wife. That’s where the idea came from.
Dustin shared the story on Twitter and relayed was a truly amazing moment it was for him and his wife.
It’s been a difficult week.
But, rather than publicly air my grievances, I’d like to share w/ you the kindness strangers offered us the day we brought our daughter home.
I hope our story uplifts you, and reminds you there is goodness to be had in this world.

They had been trying to a baby for almost a decade, and to have so many kind strangers support and love on them during their happy moment made the experience all the more better and heartwarming.
Here’s a photo of the new mom and dad . . . and here’s one of the book with kind words of advice.
