Feel Good Story: Donated Kidney Stays Close to Home

We like to believe there are no coincidences in this life, only Divine Appointments and Divine Interventions.

Char Rostomily, a northern California resident, had recently been tested to see if she was an eligible kidney donor for her adult daughter, Nikki.  Turns out they were a match, but Nikki ended up getting kidney from someone else.

Still inspired to donate, Char signed up to give one of her kidneys to a stranger in need, never even knowing the recipients name.

On the day of the surgery (back in April), Char’s grandchildren were telling friends from school about their grandma’s surgery.  Turns out, one of their friends realized their grandfather was the recipient, AND he’s one of Char’s neighbors.

Though Char had never met Richard Green, the new owner of one of her kidneys, she had been on field trips with his grandkids, and one of her daughters teaches at their school.

Char said she’d only donated as a way to give back after her daughter received a kidney, but now two families lives have been changed for the better, and they’re now bonded for life.
