Feel Good Story: Dentist Buys Kids’ Extra Halloween Candy to Send Troops

While it’s easy to joke that Halloween may not be your dentist’s favorite holiday, one dentist in Ohio is making the most of it year after year.

Dan Carmichael — who has a dental practice in Independance, Ohio (near Cleveland) — BUYS extra Halloween candy from kids to donate to troops.

Dr. Dan will pay $2 for a pound of candy to kids who shop up in a costume, and $1 per pound for those sans costume.

He donates all of the candy to a group called Operation Gratitude, who sends half a million pounds of candy to service members deployed overseas.

Some candy also goes to first responders to hand out to kids in underprivileged communities — because a lot of them don’t get the opportunity to go trick-or-treating.

If you have extra Halloween candy and want to get involved with Operation Gratitude, you can check out more information on their website HERE.
