Feel Good Story: Delta Helps Cross Country Team After Flight Gets Cancelled

After spending two years raising money for a trip to Orlando, FL to compete in an event, a high school cross country team from New Jersey thought they’re efforts were about to be in vain.

The Ocean City, NJ teens were due to be part of the Disney Cross Country Classic, but their flight on Frontier Airlines out of Philadelphia, PA was delayed . . . and then cancelled.

Unfortunately, the airline didn’t have any more flight options that could get the team to Orlando in time for the event.

Around 10 PM that night, the coaches were preparing to relay the unfortunate news that the trip they all had worked so hard for wouldn’t be happening after all.

What the coaches had no idea about, was that the students had already been ALL OVER social media looking for help and tweeting a bunch of other airlines.

Someone from Delta’s corporate office happened to be paying attention and got involved.

Before long, a Delta employee at the Philly airport walked up to the group, relaying that corporate reached out and they found a solution to help the team . . . with a PRIVATE JET!

Delta flew the plane in, which is normally used for sports teams and political campaigns, and got the cross country team to Orlando in time.

The private plane took off at 4 AM with the team arriving and getting about an hour of sleep at their hotel, then got to the event in time for it’s 10 AM start time.

The travel delays and lack of sleep didn’t hinder their abilities much, because the team still did really well and brought home numerous medals.
