One dad goes above and beyond for his son’s Halloween costume each year, and this year was no different.
The son, 15 year old Tommy Hardy is autistic with cerebral palsy, and uses a wheelchair.
When it comes to Halloween and Trick-or-Treating, Tommy’s dad Tom makes some pretty epic costumes.
Past costumes Tom created have included a police car . . . and X-wing fighter from “Star Wars” . . . even a dragon from “Game of Thrones.”
This year . . , Tommy was a FIGHTER JET!
To be more specific, Tommy is a SR-71 Blackbird — a fighter jet the Air Force used from the mid ’60s through the late ’90s.
Tom and some buddies spent about 100 hours working on his son’s costume for the past month and used a bung of random parts from his garage. (The stellar costume only cost about $75 in all.)
Plus, this year’s costume isn’t just about Halloween.
It’s extra special because this year’s costume is dedicated to Tommy’s grandparents, who both served in the Air Force during Vietnam, passed away this year — their names and ranks are printed on the tail of the fighter jet costume, and their photos are next to the control panel in the cockpit.
This dad spent nearly 100 hours on an elaborate fighter jet costume for his son with cerebral palsy and autism, who is also nonverbal. Making costumes like this became a tradition because wheelchair-inclusive costumes were hard to find, the father says. https://t.co/lRvPYLzDBZ pic.twitter.com/f2rguZzaVN
