We love stories of people helping people . . . and sometimes that help is the difference between life or death.
Kimberly WIlliams, a Comcast call center service rep in Jackson, Mississippi knew something wasn’t right when she took a call from a customer in Grand Rapids, Michigan (over 1,200 miles away).
Dan Magennis was calling about an issue he’d been having with his cable, but from the time he dialed to getting through to Kimberly, something happened.
His arm felt heavy, and he’d lost his ability to speak.
Fortunately, Kimberly immediately recognized what was happening — Dan was having a stroke.
Because she’d witnessed her grandmother having a stroke years earlier, Kimberly knew the warning signs and quickly got on the phone with first responders in Dan’s area, who were able to get him to a hospital ASAP.
Dan’s doctor said if he hadn’t gotten help in time, he would have had a MASSIVE stroke and could have died.
Because of the knowledge and fast acting of Kimberly, damage from Dan’s stroke was kept to a minimum and was released from the hospital two days later with almost NO lasting effects.
Just another reminder to take the time to learn the warning signs of a stroke . . . the warning signs of a heart attack . . . how to administer CPR and the Heimlich maneuver.
