Feel Good Story: Country Star Opening Food Pantry for People in Need

Here’s a Feel Good Story from our neighbors down the road in Nashville.

Country singer and guitarist extraordinaire Brad Paisley and his wife, actor Kimberly Williams-Paisley, have been working on a new kind of food bank to help people in need.

The couple have partnered with Belmont University to donate their time and money in opening a “modern food pantry,” full of fresh and nonperishable groceries.

It’s called The Store, and it’s designed to look and function like a free grocery store for community members in need.

About The Store, Paisley says, “This is a store with dignity for people who’ve fallen on hard times.  All of us are one unforeseen disaster away from rock bottom.  It’s nice to think about a place where when that happens, someone can use it to get back on their feet.”

The Store also plans to offer on-the-job training, as well as other services like medical and legal assistance.

The idea for The Store came for Brad and Kimberly after they spent time volunteering, along with their songs,  at a similar place in Southern California.

You can get involved by visiting TheStore.org online.

If everything continues to move along smoothly, they’re hoping to break ground in the upcoming year.
