Kevin Boywer is a school counselor in Lancaster, Ohio and is someone that clearly takes pride in his job.
He gives handwritten notes to the students at the elementary school where he works. All 600 of them!
It’s an idea he got from his parents who used to leave notes in his lunchbox as a kid.
Boywer started the idea last year, and is making it a school year tradition by continuing his encouraging notes feat this year.
He writes 6 notes a day in an effort to give each and every student a personal note by the end of the year.
The counselor then walks around to personally hand each student a note of encouragement, or sets them on their desk before they get in for the school day.
Boywer writes things like he’s proud of them, congratulates them on something they did (or are doing) well, even a welcome note.
He especially pays attention to students who may need a little more encouragement — those who might be having issues in school or at home.
Not only is he helping to encourage these kids in a big way, but Boywer also says doing this has helped him keep HIS spirits up as well. Occasionally, he gets handwritten notes in return from his students, letting the kind-hearted counselor know how much they truly appreciate him.
