Seth Marko (43) and his wife Jennifer opened a book store in 2017 called The Book Catapult in San Diego, California.
At the end of January, Seth had to have an emergency open-heart surgery that took a good 10 hours and put him in the hospital for 11 days. They only have one employee who happened to be out sick after coming down with the swine flu, so Jennifer had to make the difficult decision to close their book store for the time being.
When other bookstore owners and their employees learned about Seth and Jennifer’s scary and trying ordeal, they jumped in to help without hesitation.
That’s right . . . the COMPETITORS of The Book Catapult offered their services to keep Seth and Jennifer’s store open so that she could be with her husband the whole time and not have to worry about losing money because of their store being closed, with one owner even offered to babysit their three year old daughter.
Another started a GoFund Me page to help Seth and Jennifer with any medical expenses. As of this posting, the funds have reached over $10,000.
Seth has made it back home but still has a lot of recovering to do and is pretty weak. So, the owners of the competing books stores are continuing their off of help for whatever the family needs until they get back on their feet and back to their normalcy, with Seth hoping for that to be by April.
