Feel Good Story: Community Gifts Car to 20 Year Old Guardian of 5 Younger Siblings

Samantha Rodriguez is a 20 year old Orange County local who’s been raising her five younger siblings ever since her parents passed away.

The siblings range in age from 5 to 16 years old, and Samantha says, “Doing everything on my own is very hard.”

Around Christmas time, a local sheriff’s office showered Samantha and her siblings in gifts and treating them to a helicopter ride.

A post about the wonderful Christmas surprise on Facebook really touched the hearts of other community members, who then reached out to deputies, inquiring how they could also help the Rodriguez family.

Eventually, there were enough donations coming in for Samantha and her siblings that the Orange County Sheriff’s Office were able to present the Rodriguez family with a set of keys to a brand new Nissan Versa.

With one massive burden lifted, Samantha shares, “You don’t know how much this means to us. It’s such a big help.” She continues, “I’m so glad to have people like you guys in my life.”
