Feel Good Story: College Student Hosts Bone Marrow Drive, Saves Stranger’s Life Twice

People come into our lives for a reason, even if it’s only for a season . . .

While Jeramy Davies was a student at Texas Tech back in 2010, he hosted a bone barrow drive, and five years later got word that he’d matched with a woman who had cancer.

Jeramy decided to donate, and his wife Laura couldn’t be more proud of her husband’s selflessness to help out a stranger.

The surgery was a success, and Jeramy’s bone marrow saved the woman’s life.

About a year later, he finally learned her name — Kelly Ribeiro. Jeramy, Laura and Kelly developed a beautiful friend ship that lasted through the years.

Jeramy’s wife Laura had gotten sick around this time, fighting brain cancer. Though it went into remission, it later came back, and Laura passed away in 2017.

Jeramy was a wreck, but Kelly was there for him and helped him through the heartache of losing his bride.

In 2018, Jeramy decided a fresh start would be good, so he quit his job and decided to take a road trip to meet up with his friend Kelly in New Jersey.

That’s when he’d learned Kelly was actually sick again. The chemotherapy had destroyed her kidneys and she was in dire need of a transplant.

Because Jeramy had already donated bone marrow to Kelly, they knew he would be a match for a kidney donation.

Of course Jeramy stepped up to help the stranger that had become one of his dearest friends.

The kidney transplant happened in December, saving Kelly’s life AGAIN, and both are doing great.

Knowing how proud his wife was of him with the bone marrow transplant, the kidney donation was an easy decision, and made him feel closer to Laura once again.

If you’re interested in becoming a living donor, you can find more information HERE.
