Feel Good Story: Classmates Show Up to Support Fellow Kindergartner During Adoption Hearing

When five year old Michael showed up in a Grand Rapids courthouse for an adoption hearing with his foster parents, he had quite a crowd there to support him — his entire kindergarten class!

His peers were in the audience behind him, waving big red hearts on wooden sticks to show their love and support.

Something else pretty heartwarming was when the judge asked everyone in the courtroom to share what Michael means to them, and a bunch of the kindergartners offered some super touching answers like, “I love Michael,” and “Michael’s my best friend.”

It was the first time the presiding judge had ever hosted an entire kindergarten class for a hearing in her courtroom

Michael’s teacher organized the whole class field trip to celebrate the milestone of Michael’s forever family becoming official.

The kindergartner had been with his foster parents since last thanksgiving, and was beyond excited for the adoption to go through.
