Feel Good Story: Childhood Cancer Survivors Get Married 25 Years Later

Twenty-five years ago, Lindsey Wilkerson met Joel Alsup when they were both patients being treated at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Lindsey was battling leukemia, while Joel was dealing with bone cancer in his right arm.  Eventually, Joel’s arm did need to be amputated, but they BOTH survived their health traumas and now work at the very hospital that saved their life.

AND THEY JUST GOT MARRIED!!

Earlier this month, Lindsey and Joel got married where they first met, at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, on September 1st, the first day of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Their wedding party was even filled with more childhood cancer survivors they’ve met over the years, and from their time spent in the hospital as kids.

They’re sharing their story in the hopes that they can inspire and encourage other kids, and their families, who are currently fighting the intense battle against cancer.
