There’s a barbershop called City Cuts Barbershp in Kutztown, Pennsylvania with a mission of teaching confidence to area kids by offering them money to read aloud in the shop.
It’s their “Books by Kids” program, offering young customers $3 for reading to their barber while getting their hair cut.
Jonathan Escueta, the owner of City Cuts Barbershop says the concept developed in an attempt to help build the confidence of the younger members in their community by giving them experience with public speaking.
He also shared that the program was inspired by a study illustrating the high percentage of adults whom fear public speaking.
City Cuts Barbershop in PA isn’t the only barbershop reaching out to today’s youth in an effort to mentor. Check out this barber shop in Ohio we highlighted in a previous Feel Good Story.
