Todd Kirnan is a 45 year old business man in Gresham, Oregon. Though the label he tends to carry is that he has autism, but workaholic is much more appropriate.
Todd has been making deliveries for virtually every business in his community for almost 20 years, seven days a week, 12 hours a day.
He goes on coffee runs, drops off or picks up items form the post office, emptying waste baskets, pretty much whatever he’s asked, or not asked
When asked about his work ethic, Todd stated, “I like helping people, you know, making people happy, making people smile.”
The community members describe Todd as “one of the kindest, nicest people,” sharing that he is “always smiling.”
Cut to last week when the WHOLE TOWN got together to throw a parade for Todd.
Todd’s a big fan of classic TV shows, so community members borrowed a Batmobile to parade Todd to the town center where another surprise was waiting for him: a big statue in his honor.
The statue in Todd’s likeness cost about $54,000, paid for solely with donations from his community.
Todd’s heart beaming, he told his communtiy, “Thank you for everyone being here for me in Gresham and I love you guys.”
In most cities, statues are reserved for founders and war heroes. But here in Gresham they believe a simple passion done with unconditional love belongs on a pedestal, too.
