Friends come in all shapes and sizes, and Dickson veteran Joshua Ferguson made a new best friend this week, and the pair has quite a lot in common . . .
Scooter is a fur baby who was found in Burns, Tennessee by a group of fishermen at Johnson Creek.
When found, Scooter had a badly wounded leg, with veterinarians believing he may have gotten stuck in something and chewed threw his leg to escape — he did need to have the leg amputated.
Joshua adopted the three-legged fur baby from the Humane Society of Dickson County, with whom he shares a positive attitude, a friendly demeanor, strength and triumph through the loss of leg, as Joshua had lost his own leg in an IED explosion.
Of his new best friend, Joshua shares, “He makes it easier for me to remember, he it’s a beautiful day.” He continues, “You realize really just how tremendous a journey life is.”
Joshua hopes to get Scooter certified to be a service dog so he can visit other amputees.
A puppy found by fishermen with a missing leg, has been adopted by a veteran who is also an amputee. https://t.co/BM8KWOfEBc
