When people use their own stories and life experience to help others . . . that’s a pure, and beautiful thing.
There’s a 9 year old with a rare genetic condition and he has to use a wheelchair, but that’s not stopping him from wanting to help kids get bikes for Christmas.
Joey Johnson was inspired to help others after a conversation with his mom about how people live differently all over the world.
Joey’s mom, Kelly, explained, “Last year we were explaining why [kids] in third world countries need bikes because going to and from school is very dangerous and bikes help them get there safely.”
That’s when Kelly and Joey got involved with the Christian-led organization “Wold Vision,” who works to provide services in education, health and nutrition, and even disaster management to people in underdeveloped countries.
Kelly shared, “During our scout’s popcorn sale, [Joey] actually raised close to $400 so that he can give three bikes this year for Christmas.”
In fact, Joey opens a “World Vision” catalog to see how he can help others, rather than picking out a toy for himself that he would want for Christmas.
Why he does his efforts, Joey shares, “I want other kids to know about how to be kind to others and be thankful and try to help out other people that don’t have what they need.”
