While most 8 year olds may tend to be more focused on playing and having fun, one kid was busy developing his own non-profit organization to help others.
Symond Boschetto, now 12, launched Share Hope USA a few years ago to help members of the homeless community.
Share Hope USA hosts feeding events, clothing drives, and does so much more for the massive homeless population in Los Angeles, California.
“I started this because I knew there were people that I needed to help, and I wanted to see what I could do to help them,” shares Symond.
The middle schooler has helped an estimated 9,000 people with his non-profit.
The idea started when the then-8-year-old passed a homeless man on the freeway who was holding a sign that read “Need money to eat, please help,” and Symond immediately wanted to help.
“I had like, $5 in my pocket, and I wanted to give it to him, but we had already passed him so I told my dad, ‘I want to help them.’ And he was like, ‘Well, I can turn around and we can go give him the $5.’ I said, ‘You don’t understand, I want to help them all.'”
Almost immediately, Share Hope USA was initiated.
Symond even hand delivers items to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and has been donating Play-Doh since 2016 for kids to play with.
The middle schooler has bigger plans, too, sharing ” I really want to just be almost all over the world. I want to be everywhere.”
