Liam Hannon may only be 12 years old, but he’s making a big difference in his Cambridge community, one lunch at a time.
Liam delivers meals to the homeless in an effort called “Liam’s Lunches of Love,” which has fed more than 2,000 of his area’s most vulnerable residents.
Liam says, “It’s like a way to give people joy, maybe spark something in them that can change them.” He continues, “I think the message is to spread positivity within people.”
Mayor Marc McGovern shares of the youngster in his community, “In this time when there seems to be so much negativity, maybe you have to turn to a 12-year-old to lead the way.” Mayor McGovern continues, “Liam gives me hope for the future of Cambridge, the country and the world.”
Liam’s dad, Scott Hannon, shares, “It makes me proud, as a dad, that I’m able to raise him that way, but also that he’s the way he is.”
The 12 year old with the kind-heart uses online fundraising to cover the costs of the lunches. He’s garnered more than $44,000 in gifts from others — one day alone he raised more than $17,000, with the help of Harry Connick, Jr.
