DUI driver wreaks havoc in Clarksville neighborhood

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville man was arrested early Friday morning after police said he crashed into several objects with his car while under the influence. According to a police report, police responded after receiving calls about multiple parked vehicles that had been hit in the Loupin Dr. area. The officer found the suspect, 28-year-old Gabriel Alvarado, slumped in the front seat of his vehicle. The car had significant damage to the front end. Alvarado attempted to hide himself from the officer, then fled the vehicle on foot. He was captured seconds later and the officer described him as extremely intoxicated. The report says Alvarado hit three parked cars, a utility pole, and multiple objects in the Loupin Dr. area.

Alvarado was transported to the hospital and while reading an implied consent document, he screamed, “Rape!” Police said he would only scream “rape” when asked for a blood sample. Alvarado has no prior history of DUI. He was charged with DUI, reckless driving, implied consent violation, evading arrest, and no insurance.
