Does your pet have separation anxiety?

When you leave for work does your pet get into trouble? They could have separation anxiety. Don’t feel guilty, there’s plenty you can do to ease their mind. TikToker and veterinarian Dr. Adam Christman shares tips for helping your furry friend calm down.

Here are some of the behaviors to look out for: tearing up toys, window frames, or pillows, going to the bathroom in the house, excessive drooling, panting, and pacing.

Here is how Christman says to help your pet:

-Give your pet a treat just before you leave
-Don’t make leaving a big deal, just leave
-Come back a few minutes later like nothing happened
-Your pet will get used to you leaving as you practice and extend the period of time you’re gone
-Don’t scold your pet for separation anxiety or the behaviors it causes
-Use medication if necessary
