NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – In an emotional post to his Facebook page, country singer Craig Morgan addressed the recent loss of his son Jerry Greer. Morgan said losing Jerry “is the hardest thing we have ever had to endure as a family.” He died at the age of 19 after falling off an inner tube while on the Kentucky Lake in Humphreys County on July 11. “Karen and I are so grateful for all of the wonderful people who have shown us unwavering support during this difficult time,” Morgan said. He went on to specially thank the Humphreys County sheriff and fire departments, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, and all the volunteers “who turned out to bring our son home.” Officials with at least 30 different law enforcement agencies aided in the two-day search for Jerry’s body after he went under the water. Their search spanned over 10 acres of water, using a helicopter, nearly two dozen boats, and around 80 people to assist in the search. “We would also like to thank our friends, family members, and Jerry’s friends who have all shown us an immense amount of love and support,” Morgan continued in his note. “Additionally, we cannot thank the music and outdoor communities enough for wrapping their arms around us, as well as our industry friends, fans, and all those that loved our son,” he added. The country singer said he and his family are blessed by the prayers and condolences from across the world. “Jerry may be gone from this earth, and we will miss him every day, but his spirit will live on in our hearts,” Morgan said. “We will find peace knowing that God has a bigger plan, and that one day, we’ll be reunited with him again in Heaven. John 3:16.”
