Charges pending in crash that injured 4 near Governor’s Square Mall

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – (UPDATE: Police have identified the driver as 30-year-old Derek Doker of Clarksville. Doker had a suspended license at the time of the crash. He also has previous arrests for driving on a suspended license and unlawful drug paraphernalia. ) The vehicle was a rental car that had been rented by one of the three female occupants of the car. The two women in the back seat were transported to Tennova Hospital. Doker and the front passenger were transported to Nashville to Skyline Hospital due to severity of their injuries. Syringes were recovered from the vehicle. Criminal charges are pending. Shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, a silver Hyundai Sonata left the roadway near Governor’s Square Mall and slammed into a retaining wall at what police are calling a ‘significant’ rate of speed. “This is one of the most dramatic impacts I’ve ever seen,” Officer Coz Minetos said. All four occupants of the Sonata, which had a North Carolina license plate, were seriously injured. One occupant had to be extricated from the heavily damaged car by Clarksville Fire Rescue. Police have identified the driver as 30-year-old Derek Doker of Clarksville. Doker had a suspended license at the time of the crash. Several witnesses have been interviewed at the scene. No other vehicles or drivers are believed to have been involved at this time. “You can see where the wall is actually pushed back,” Minetos said. “I’m surprised they’re all alive.” The names of the victims have not been released.
