Carrie Underwood Wanted to Learn Harmonica, So She did

Remember that time when Carrie Underwood totally surprised everyone by playing the harmonica during “Choctaw County Affair” during her shows and everyone lost their minds?

Turns out it wasn’t some hidden talent she’d been holding back on.

One day, Underwood decided to learn, and even taught herself, for the most part. Of it, she says, “I definitely tend to get myself in over my head sometimes, and I was like, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if I played the harmonica?'” She continues, “I said, ‘I’ll figure it out.  Go get me one, because I’m pretty good at playing things by ear.'”

When Carrie first got started on harmonica, she was so bad it would make her son bawl every time, so she has to start practicing in her car.  The Country artists says, “I’d be on my way to work . . . practicing harmonica.”

After learning the basics, Carrie recruited a pro to show her a couple things.
