Can you take a selfie with your ballot or at the ballot box?

In this day and age of cell phones, most of those phones have cameras and many Americans like to take pictures and share with friends what about sharing a photo with their ballot on Election Day.

Some states have passed various laws, and depending on how these laws are interpreted, posting a photo with your ballot could be a crime in some places. But whether anyone would actually be charged remains in question.

Instead of ballot selfies, the National Association of State Legislatures encourages election officials to engage voters by offering voting stickers or creating photo kiosks.

If you are voting in Kentucky, you can take a selfie with your ballot.

In Tennessee, don’t do it!  Justin Timberlake sparked a debate about the legality of sharing a ballot selfie in the state in 2016. Since then, lawmakers have proposed changing the law to allow people to take pictures in voting booths — just not their ballot. The Senate passed the bill in April 2017 but it still needs to be signed into law
