OK, I have been a NASCAR fan for years. When I got into NASCAR Dale Earnhardt was a rookie. The Daytona 500 was aired for the first time on CBS, so I’ve been around the track a time or two. I lost some of my enthusiasm with all the new tracks that seemed to be modeled after another track instead of it’s uniqueness. So many tracks had a nickname that went along with the “personality” of that track. Like Darlington, The Lady In Black, and if you ran the track right you had that “Darlington Stripe”. Well one track that I just loved was North Wilksboro. Not sure why, except it was in the heart of where NASCAR started with it’s roots. And when they quit racing there it broke my heart. However over the past few years more and more interest is being made into looking at some of these lost locations to see if NASCAR can make strides into getting back into some of these locations. NASCAR is coming back to Nashville but at the super speedway so that’s not the same but still cool to have NASCAR close to home Fathers Day weekend. And let’s not forget Bristol and the dirt a few weeks ago. But bring back North Wilksboro. I read a thing where some NASCAR peeps werre saying the track itself is not in that bad a shape it’s the stands that needs work. Let’s “get ‘er done” and boogity boogity boogity.
Who’s with me?
