Are Oreos Black or Brown?

The latest debate to have the internet divided has arrived.

OREOS . . .  Are they black or are they brown?

The debate has taken social media by storm, and Oreo’s parent company, Mondelez, isn’t offering much insight.

The company posted a statement on their website that reads, “We do not have a color assigned to the cookie portion of an Oreo. Some people think the Oreo is a shade of brown, while others view the color closer to black.”

OK, well that’s a statement that doesn’t help ANYTHING!!

Let’s look at the ingredients: The cookie part of the Oreo is made from cocoa beans (which are BROWN), but . . . the cocoa is processed with alkali which darkens the powder a lot . . . so much so that cocoa powder with alkali is literally called “BLACK cocoa powder.”

So there’s that. Where do you stand in the great Oreo color debate of 2018?  Please tell us on The Beaver 100.3 FM Facebook Page.
