Apparently the Flu Vaccine Doesn’t Match the Flu Virus in Circulation Right Now

Well, dang!

The flu is going around and, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CD), the strain circulating doesn’t quite match with the flu vaccine that was administered this year . . .

To be clear, the CDC does state the flu vaccine could still offer protection in some cases.

The experts noticed an unusual trend with the flu season kicking off earlier this year and with a mightier force than usual — plus, the flu virus going around is a type of influenza B . . . which doesn’t typically begin until later.

It’s not slowing down, either. The CDC warns the flu activity will continue for many more weeks in the U.S. and we’re likely to see “additional hospitalizations and deaths, including among children.”
