A week in the Bubble at LBL

Remember back in February, we had the Camp Rainbow Radiothon? Do you remember why we were taking donations? We were taking donations for a camp right here in Beaver Country for kids with medical conditions that may not have a summer camp to attend! And we all know kids should go to a summer camp, right? Swimming, arts and crafts, fishing and more! Summer camp is fun for kids! But some of these kids, because of their medical conditions, can’t attend camp. Thanks to Camp Rainbow, they can!  This is what your donations went to! Side note, 100% of your donations go to the kids! Not one person, not one counselor, not one staff member and not one camp director gets paid! You know for sure 100% your donations are going to the kids!

Check out the story of Camp Rainbow here!

This place truly is a magical place! If you want to see miles of smiles, this is the place! I think the biggest takeaway from Camp Rainbow for us, as adults, is the confidence the camp builds, the friendships that are formed, the experiences and the things they learn. We are very lucky to have a place like this in Beaver Country! These kids have an absolute BALL.

Here are some of the kids I got to know this past week!

Miss Kady Rae and the bubble gun.

Let me tell you about my camper, Kiya!  She taught me so much in a short week!  She taught me a bit of sign language, she taught me to have even more patience than I already have! She is smart, fun, chill, a little stubborn at times, she made me laugh and I really think she taught me more than I taught her!

Here are some pics of us having a ton of fun!

This is Daniel and Sara, they are the ones that so graciously let us ride with them!

This is superstar AJ..a past camper that came back to volunteer his time too!

This guy needs no introduction!

It was a week of firsts for my camper!

She caught a fish for the first time!

She went up in a hot air balloon, which was a first for me too!  I got weak knees!

Sat in a hellicoptor!

Rode in a Jeep/Can-Am/Razor

Thanks to Daniel and Sara for the most excellent off roading experience!

Took a motorcycle ride!

It was a super fun week! What would camp be without pranks?

The boys were doing a lot of pranking!!

We woke up one morning to this smelly thing in front of our dorm door!

A Counselor fell asleep on the benches during nap time for the kids…I saw this happening…

This was the result!

Then the last day, the boys were busy AGAIN!

You want arts & crafts?  Camp Rainbow has arts & crafts!!!  We decorated EVERYTHING!

That was the week!

What a week!  I’m exhausted just writing this blog!
