5 Tips to Stay Safe at Night

Night time can be a dangerous time, even more so depending on where you live.

Crime tends to rise and night when people are less attentive and visibility is down. While being out at night in some areas can be straight dangerous, there are some tips to help you minimize becoming a victim.

Here are 5 ways to stay safe at night:

1. Carry a cell phone with you at all times. If you’re in trouble, you can call someone quickly. When in doubt, have someone on the phone with you while you’re walking to your car.

2. Walk with confidence. Attackers look for weak targets. Walk with your shoulders up, your head held high, and look anyone coming your direction straight in the eye. Don’t hunch or show you’re scared. You’re less likely to become a victim if you follow these steps.

3. Take a friend. There’s truth in the saying ͞there’s safety in numbers͟. Not only will you be less likely to become a victim if you’re not alone, there’s also someone there to help you should you get hurt and need help.

4. Go into the light – Staying in well-lit areas where there are more people will also minimize your risk of becoming a victim.

5. Attend a class – Find a self-defense & awareness class in your area. They’ll not only give you plenty of helpful tips, but additional advice specific to your area to look out for.

Stay safe out there!
