Fort Campbell, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Once again there were a whole lot of happy faces, applause, and cheers on Monday as 225 soldiers with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team (BCT) “STRIKE” with the 101st were welcomed home from deployment. The new Commander of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, Major General Andrew Poppas along with family, friends and comrades, welcomed the troops back to Post. Tommy Jurecko was there to welcome his daughter who was returning along with the other 2nd Brigade soldiers from their nine-month deployment to Iraq and other areas in Southwest Asia. Jurecko was emotional as he hugged his daughter and talked about seeing her again. “I’ve been crying since she got off the plane. It’s great. That’s my baby doll, said Jurecko. Sgt. Nikole Jurecko had this to say about being home. “I thought I was never going to get here. It’s been a long flight and I’m really glad I can spend time with them and they’re here with me,” said Jurecko. Three more Welcome Home Ceremonies are scheduled this week, one on Wednesday and another for Friday for 2nd BCT soldiers. Also on Wednesday, a group of 100 soldiers with the 1st Brigade Combat Team are scheduled to return from their deployment to Africa. Check out PHOTOS from this return.
