Are we FRIENDLIER in Beaver Country than the rest of the United States?

According to this latest study, probably so. By far the South is friendlier than the Northeast, Midwest, and West. As someone who moved to TN about 10 years ago from the Northeast, I agree wholeheartedly. It was the first and biggest difference that I noticed.

I was walking into a Dollar General when the employee said a big “Hi! How Y’ALL?”

I turned and looked behind me. Surely she was not saying hi to me. I had never walked into that store before. But she was staring right at me with the biggest smile. She may have thought that something was wrong with me as I stood there, incredulous. This NEVER happens up north. Kind of sad really.

I noticed it happening in almost every store I walked into. I felt like I was traveling back in time to an old TV show where everyone knew each other and said hello. I even noticed those in front of me in line getting into a conversation with strangers. Again, this didn’t happen often back home. You do your business and get out.

I immediately fell in love with the South. The friendliest place in the country is a place I always want to be. So how Y’ALL? 🙂
