Dressing Up for Ren Fest!

Do you wait for the Renaissance Festival every year too? When I first began going to Ren Faires back in the 80s growing up in Massachusetts, you would see about 30% of people dressing up. Most would go to just enjoy a fun and unique day in the autumn woods.

The smell of incense, the sounds of flutes and drums, the jousting, all those fantastic finds, and the turkey legs! There is just so much to see and do and for those who feel a kinship with that era, it’s like stepping back into a fun dream.

Through the years I have enjoyed the King Richard’s Faire in Massachusetts, The Pennsylvania Rennaisance Festival, The North Carolina Rennaissance Faire, and the TN Rennaissance Festival in Williamson County. (Did I mention that I LOVE Ren Fest? LOL

These days so many festival go-ers dress up that there are themes each weekend. I have mostly attended on Viking weekend to dress as a Viking warrior, but this year I couldn’t make it that opening weekend so we went on Fantasy/Fairy weekend. Far cry from a warrior costume. Thankfully I had some pieces from my belly dance closet to fashion something close enough.

This year it seemed the MOST amount of costumes. There were a HANDFUL of people in street clothes (including my husband), but honestly, not many. EVERYONE is not only dressing up these days but the costumes are INCREDIBLE! We’ll all have to up our costume game!

This is the final weekend as sadly our fair here in TN lasts only one month as opposed to the three months you find in the fall at other fairs.

So if you’re on your way to ye fair, I bid you GOOD TIDINGS YE LORDS AND LADIES! MAY YOU FIND WONDERFUL TREASURES!

HUZZAH!!!!
