This legendary drummer may have to hang up his sticks

Whether you like rock, country, oldies, blues, r&b, you’ve heard of the legendary Phil Collins.  He has collaborated on many songs, played the drums on many songs and sang many songs.  Phil Collins, who is 70, talked about no longer being able to play the drums.  He said, “I’d love to but you know, I mean, I can barely hold a stick with this hand, so there are certain physical things that get in the way.”

Phil was joined by his Genesis band mates.  Genesis is getting ready to go on a reunion tour after postponing their shows last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Collins’ son Nic Collins fill in for Phill on the drums handling his father’s drumming duties.  That doesn’t mean Phil isn’t angry and frustrated he can no longer play the instrument with the band.

Phil will take the stage and still perform with Genesis but, he’ll just do the singing on the stage alongside his son and Genesis members Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks.

Phil first joined Genesis in the ’70s, then with a successful solo career in the 80’s.  He added that he’s unsure if he’ll continue performing after the band’s upcoming tour is over.

Who can forget this classic!  I know you know this song!

The world will be forever changed without Phil’s drumming!
