The story behind Dum Dum Pops Mystery flavors!

Some of life’s mysteries just can’t be explained…but have you ever wondered about the mystery behind Dum Dums’ mystery flavor?

I remember as a kid, my mom would go to the bank drive through and I’d get a Dum Dum pop.  Every now and then I’d get a mystery flavored one…you know, the ones with ?’s on it?  Now when we go get my son’s hair cut, he gets a Dum Dum and specifically looks for the mystery flavor.

Dum Dums’ mystery flavor, which is a purple wrapper covered in question marks, is not a surprise fruit flavor, but a super a genius way to save time and boost their profits.

Rather than stop the lollipop machines to clean out a flavor while transitioning from one to the next, Spangler Candy Company just continues running the machines to create a new combo flavor. So, some lollipops have a mixture of two different flavors ― and those are the lollipops that are labeled as “mystery.”
