The reason for Gretchen Wilson’s disappearing act

Gretchen Wilson rose to fame 13 years ago following the release of “Redneck Woman.” The song was on top ofthe charts for five weeks and she won a Grammy for “Best Female Country Vocal Performance.” Gretchen admits she wasn’t ready for all this success.  Gretchen says, “I spent my whole life looking for that moment, but as prepared as I thought I was, I wasn’t.  It happened so fast. I had a major label deal at the time, and I think that they thought that I was the next Shania Twain.

In twelve years that followed, was a string of nonstop tour dates, hotels rooms, airports, and zero time alone. The lifestyle turned out to be a little more than she could chew.

After a three year break from music, Gretchen is ready to dive back into touring. While she admits getting back into it is “scary,” she’s ready to do just that.
