I moved to Clarksville from Gainesville, Florida…this park, Paynes Prairie is between Gainesville and Micanopy, Florida. The park was only about 15-20 minutes from my house. Paynes Prairie is a beautiful place, has many trails and a TON of wild life. On this particular trail, you are warned before you go on the trail that you could encounter wild life and basically have a run in with them. Here are my personal pictures from my encounters with wild life on the trails…I enlarged them a bit, so they are a bit grainy.

The wild horses are said to be decedents from the Spanish settlers horses.
Anyway, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that this happened, especially in Florida.
Some people were checking out an alligator at a state park in Florida the other day that was right next to a bunch of wild horses. And one of the horses ATTACKED the gator and tried to stomp it to death.
The woman who posted it on Facebook says she checked in with a park employee afterward, and the alligator’s okay.
