How easily COVID-19 can spread and how long it stays on different surfaces

According to a recent study, COVID-19 can be spread before it causes symptoms and for as many as 12 days after recovery.  The coronavirus far harder to contain than SARS was but SARS was contained after about 8,000 cases.  If you watch the news, coronavirus has far exceed that worldwide.

People are very contagious during the first week of symptoms. This could mean a very high rate of transmission of the virus, person to person, or when they are only beginning to experience very mild symptoms but are still going through their daily routines.

2 to 8 hours

Up to 5 days

Ceramics
5 days

Paper
The length of time varies. Some strains of coronavirus live for only a few minutes on paper, while others live for up to 5 days.

Remember to:

  1. Stay home if you can.
  2. Social distance-6 feet apart!
  3. Wash your hands frequently
  4. Don’t touch your face
  5. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
