The last time he won this category, was in 2019.  A lot of country music fans wanted Carrie Underwood or Eric Church to earn win the trophy for the Entertainer of the Year category!

Garth said, “There’s one tweet in there that really stuck in my head,” Garth said the tweet stated, “‘Hey, man. This guy, why doesn’t he just step down (and leave) the entertainer for the next generation?’ 100% agree.”

Garth continued, “With all the love in the world, we are officially pulling ourselves out of ‘Entertainer of the Year.'”

That leaves a space for the next generation.
